Feathers does London Fashion Week: Part I

February 20, 2012

London Fashion Week. What a mission. Our buying team has been scouring every postcode imaginable to view the A/W 12 collections, from the city’s freshest talent to the heritage brands, and everything in between.

So now it’s nearly over and we’ve seen some good, some not so good and some completely whack…

Here’s a run-down of some of our favourite’s so far.

Aquascutum was definitely a winner. The runway laid through the Savoy’s rococo sky blue-painted ballroom was the perfect environment for the brand’s strict girls and garments. Hair and make-up was fantastic and worked perfectly with the structured trousers, dresses, jackets and elbow-high leather gloves which we looooved.

On Friday we had a peek at Felder Felder and Jean-Pierre Braganza, always a good time. Georgia Harding and Merit Award winner Pheobe English had everyone talking, so we had to make it down.

Moschino Cheap & Chic was quirky as usual perfectly suited for Alexa Chung who Suzanne spotted looking impeccable, sporting a very interesting manicure with her Jil Sander paisley trousers. We’re inlove.

More recently Marios Schwab put out a glamorous collection of evening wear, and Jonathan Saunders displayed perfect construction with some drool-worthy jackets and skirts.

New kid on the block Thomas Tait rolled out a faux-grass runway for his girls who marched in ponytails secured with velour scrunchies. We’re positive his slim leather trousers and wool baseball jackets will be on everyone’s must-have list for Fall.

Later on we made it back to Somerset House for Mark Fast which saw one Kanye West front row, but beforehand we couldn’t miss London’s darling Christopher Kane. Kane had all the right faces in all the right places including Anna W. herself – wearing Celine might we add – who happened to be seated just in front of us!

Stay tuned for PART II which will include some exclusive video handiwork by our dear Assistant Buyer Ivan ;)

From Feathers, with ♥

February 14, 2012

So while we’re receiving countless bouquets [...], we thought we’d let you in on what our gals are dreaming of wearing for Valentine’s (be it date night with their man, or flatmate…). Either way, totally worth getting dressed up.

We’re extremely excited about the latest arrivals which came yesterday and what better way to celebrate V-day than with some dark and earthy Spring/Summer Rick?

First up Ana, who’s been going gaga over this smart jacket. Ana’s dining with the girls tonight and Bea’s cooking. Or more accurately, not cooking…

The lovely Darlene is heading out on the town for a rendez-vous. She’s sporting a black skirt by Haider Ackermann from A/W 11 (1 left in the sale!) which she’s paired with some Helmut Lang knitwear and an olive suede gilet. So adorable!

Last but not at all least Aurejlia, who’s having a casual dinner at home with her man. She’s wearing the new Vanilla suede biker. Pink is just too obvious.

Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo

NYC REPORT: WANG + LANG

February 13, 2012

We’re loving the new collections that just walked off the catwalks of our favourite rhyming American minimalists.

Alex took it up some major sophistication notches for Autumn/Winter, keeping with the neo-athletic tone classic to the designer. Wang’s newly refined garments reminisce an urban, basketball-playing, all-black version of Phoebe Philo’s Celine. We’re completely obsessed with his knee-high leather boots and long leather skirts. Officially getting antsy for fall…

With Helmut you just can’t go wrong. A brand new addition to Feathers, Lang’s repeat cuts and avant-garde tailoring get better and better with time. He really does the best suit around. Come check out his collection for Spring/Summer, which we’ve just received in Knightsbridge!

We ♥ Apartamento

February 11, 2012

We’re always on the hunt for fresh inspiration and now with our latest addition Nest, we’re completely obsessed with all things related to interiors.

So on this sunny Saturday we’ve been flipping through the new issue of Apartamento, a charming little half Spanish, half Italian-based mag. The romantic imagery is always beautiful and just grainy enough to give you that personal sensibility. Not to mention the text is a great read and the paper feels fantastic to flip through. There’s even a charming little book insert for the kids. Great for a cozy-up by the fireplace on this bitter cold day.

Happy Weekend!

Preen’s New Impressionism

February 10, 2012

Maybe it’s far fetched, no pun intended, but we definitely see a connection between Monet’s Lilies and the Japanese ponds printed on our T‘s and dresses from Preen’s resort collection.

Interesting as Claude was heavily influenced by Japan in his day, hence the Japanese bridge and pond built in his infamous garden.  Preen‘s pieces give a postmodern digital spin to the french painter’s lilies, of which he spent the last decade of his life painting. A fresh interpretation of the impressionist brush strokes by Thornton Bregazzi.

Thoughts?

Now in. Get ‘em in stores or at feathersfashion.com

Weekend in Paris

February 9, 2012

Our gal Cecilia spent a few days in the city of lights last weekend and brought back some visual treats for us.

Braving the snow, Cecilia did some great window shopping and gallery hopping.

Some recommendations from the Paris native:

Centre Pompidou for their current Dance your Life exhibition, Diane Arbus’ latest at Jeu de Paume and of course, Le Bon Marché. We loved the sweet designer photos and quotes on display at the department store including our favs Jérôme Dreyfuss and Rick Owens. Enjoy!

Madonna + Markus

February 7, 2012

The recent superbowl star has been spotted sporting our beloved Markus Lupfer‘s star jumper from Main line SS12 which has just arrived here in the shop.

The queen of pop wears the London-based designer’s knit for the cover of her new single which we’ve had on repeat since Sunday night.

Email onlinestore@feathersfashion to pre-order your star jumper!

New in Feathers: Mary K

February 4, 2012

Probably our most exciting new addition for Spring/Summer 12: Mary Katrantzou has finally arrived at Feathers!

                            Mary Katrantzou, Feathers

We’re all completely mesmerized by her prints which are even more beautiful in person than they are on the catwalk. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the pieces we just received.

We’re especially excited about these Hawaiian-themed pink floral shorts.

How amazing would they look paired with some basic Rick and a great pair of sandals…

But it’s still just a day dream for now, as tonight comes the snow. If you’re around, do pop into the shop for our last few days of sale at up to 80% off!
