We had the pleasure of having some of the Peter Pilotto team in yesterday, to give the team training on the SS14 pre collection. For all those fashion hungry followers put your reading glasses on, get comfortable and get ready to learn something:
Peter Pilottto Resort 2014 was inspired by urban architecture and nature. The design duo took their cue from the meticulously controlled craftsmanship of Japan, pushing the boundaries of their signature graphic prints and colour saturated aesthetic into a more complete wardrobe.
Graphic Japanese motifs inspired by temari balls and ikebana flower arrangements are paired with geometric prints and precise architectural lines, highlighting the contrast of fabric combinations. Tailored jackets and white shirtings, both accented with lace and unadorned, provide a crisp, structural edge. Lacquered jacquards, embroidered tulle, silk waffles, and cotton cloques add texture throughout the collection.
Colours range from bold black & white to fresh combinations in orange, lime and blue based florals. The collection balances multiple layers of textiles, textures, prints and colours but projects an easy confidence with its clean silhouette.
