With today’s sunny weather – FINALLY – we’re starting to feel like summer may in fact still exist in London. And while we’re not ready to leave the house with any less layers just yet, we definitely feel like lightening our palette.

We asked our Buying Director Suzanne Burstein for an edit of her Spring/Summer essentials, which includes some key layering options by Rick Owens Lilies), Haider Ackermann, Etro, Dr. Martens and Linda Farrow.

And for the perfect little black dress?  A jersey Rick Owens DRKSHDW. It can be worn both backwards and forwards and makes for the most comfortable and modern day to night dress.

Dutch Designs for Thomas Eyck at Nest…

We’re currently really inspired by Christien Meindertsma’s Rope Lights, currently taking up space at Nest. The Dutch designer whose work has been exhibited at New York’s MOMA, the V&A and Tilburg’s textile museum and explores the limits of raw materials and products, created the lights as part of a series commissioned in 2009 by Thomas Eyck called the Flax Project.

For the collection, Meindertsma worked in collaboration with traditional rope makers and attempts to emphasise Flax, a material which used to be one of the most important textile fibres in the Netherlands but is presently farmed and shipped to China for further processing. With the Flax Project Meindertsma, aims to make a series of products from flax that are produced locally, from the seed to the end product.

ARXE at Nest In…

A fantastic brand from Barcelona, Arxe encompasses that chic rustic sensibility that Nest In Feathers is all about. They produce unique textiles and one-off pieces of furniture out of antique industrial materials, and Nest is currently stocking their rustic metal and wood plank containers – great for an abstract display.

We imagine placing a colourful tribal necklace collected on a recent holiday in the centre, or an arrangement of small cacti…

The possibilities are endless. We love beautiful things that leave room for creativity.

Do take a minute to check out the inspiring imagery on their website.

SS12 Trend: Macro & Micro Mesh with Marios Schwab

The mesh trend is major this season and we’re currently really into it.

Both Marios Schwab and Ann Demeulemeester seem to be in agreement for S/S 12 and we have some amazing selects in store, if we may say so…

As featured in February’s Vogue Japan as well as a more recent STELLA magazine, Schwab’s macro-mesh dress (available in black as well as THE most beautiful shade of pale pink) make for the perfect edgy cocktail ensemble and both colours are here at Feathers!

In contrast, Schwab’s Spring/Summer collection displayed some incredible micro mesh including the ‘Power Dress’, available in both coral and mint. Similarly, Ann Demeulemeester’s collection was all about micro mesh layering. We’re in love with her mesh skirt and tank; dark, feminine and slightly bohemian.

Check out the Mesh trend in store & online.

Antonio Berardi

We thought we’d share this great little interivew with one of Feathers’ more recent additions: London-based, Italian-born designer Antonio Berardi.

Berardi creates with the idea of Fantasy, capital F, in mind. He designs for a woman who is ‘confident, senual and feminine with a sense of androgyny’ – something that definitely comes across in his Spring/Summer 12 collection currently in store at Feathers Knightsbridge (including the famous Florence frock we love so much!). Enjoy the piece…

Theyskens’ Theory

On these recent rainy days, it’s hard to imagine any sense of spring, nevermind summer. It seems the precipitation has brought a small burst of creative energy upon our buying and merchandising team who are currently inspired by Theyskens’ Theory. Floral, light and perfectly cut, Olivier got it just right this season. And while the weather might not permit these outfits at present, we can always dream…

Suzanne is the ultimate Feathers girl: a bit English classic, a bit dark, and a bit urban cool. Today our Owner and Buying Director sports the perfect embodiment of all three parts wearing her tall Ann Demeulemeester boots, Rick Owens shorts and a ribbed Vince polo neck. layered over a crisp white shirt; sleeves up. For the rain, Suzanne keeps herself protected with a Tera mac. She’s a bit functional too…

Morning Visit: Ann Demeulemeester & Haider Ackermann

This morning the Feathers’ team enjoyed a lovely visit from team Haider Ackermann and Ann Demeulemeester who gave us a quick run-through of the current Spring/Summer 12 collections.

First, our charming Belgian visitors toured Ann Demeulemeester’s romantic manifestations, inspired by a ‘Poet in the Desert’, realised quite literally by Jaime Bochert in this short fashion film.

They explained that many of her prints have been inspired by light/landscape photographs taken by Demeulemeester’s husband Patrick Robyn. As usual, the collection emphasises dualisms between hard and soft, east and west, masculine and feminine. And as you may have noticed, tassles are a major motif throughout. They come both beaded and fringed, as detachable elements as well as accessories and we’re absolutely mad for them.

Haider’s talk was extremely inspiring as well. So much layerability in this collection. The designers’ long gold pleated skirt worn by Natasha Poly as the catwalk’s finale look is truly a special piece and as we’ve just found out, exclusive in the UK to Feathers!
