New York Fashion Week is upon us…. so welcome to the first review of Feather’s Fashion Week Report, where we select some of our favourite shows each day and share them with you. Let us know your thoughts!
Richard Chai Love
Chai executed his clothing with ‘military’ precision including strict tailoring, olive green tones & fitted silhouettes. The main element of the collection was discipline, displayed in high neck jackets, double breasted blazers and slick pencil skirts, to portray a controlled sexiness throughout. The most successful moments were when Chai incorporated a jacquard check print in contrast to metallic leathers and heavy wool.
BCBG Max Azria
For BCBG Max Azria layering was key to create a soft grunge theme throughout this season’s collection including tunics, puffer jackets, fur gilets, leather leggings & slouchy sweaters. Contrasting silk chiffon, leather, fur & knits in a combination of bold & intricate prints provides a sense of urban exoticism to a New York street style. A colour palette of monochrome and tonal greys was also extended to the styling on all the models with knitted beanies.
Kenneth Cole
Kenneth Cole’s return to the catwalk revealed a dark futuristic style with pleated leather, ribbed knits and double breasted coats. Playing with silhouette proportions by extending the shoulders, elongating the jackets & graduating layers of chiffon. Emphasised with severe styling of slicked back hair, metal chokers and leather harnesses to add a gothic edge to this wearable collection.
